John Barbera, age 81, passed away on December 01, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Carolyn Barbera; his children, Jeffrey (Karen), Annette (Tim), and Gregory; his grandchildren, Marcus, Rebecca, Lauren, Aaron, Tony, Maggie, Kyle, Hailey and Tyler.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Ann.
John was a considerate, kind, loving, giving and faithful man. He had retired from teaching and his psychology practice. After his retirement he wanted to continue to serve people so he became a chaplain for the Clinton Township Fire Department and was ordained in the second class of Deacons for the Archdiocese of Detroit. John was recently recognized for his 45 years of service. He also worked as an EMT and proudly served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. John was a highly respected and loved dearly by his family. He was an example to his children and grandchildren of how to give to others. John helped many people in his different vocations, career choices and volunteering opportunities. He was always looking to make someone smile and truly enjoyed his life. In his last years as he struggled with a variety of health issues, he was strong and never gave up. John was a blessing to everyone he met.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 07, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 8:00pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp., MI 48035.
An In State visitation will on Wednesday, December 08, 2021 at 9:30 am with a funeral mass immediately following at 10:00 am at St. Louis Parish, 24415 Crocker Blvd., Clinton Township, MI 48036
