Liam Patrick Gordon, of Clinton, passed away on November 1, 2018. He was born on May 14, 1999, in New Haven, the son of Glenn Torrey Gordon and Kelly Erin Jones. He attended Clinton Public Schools and graduated from The Morgan School in 2017.
While Liam had many fantastic attributes, his firm conviction was his strongest quality next only to his kind heart. Liam was steadfast in his beliefs and would happily debate controversial topics. He was wise beyond his years when it came to mechanics and history. Liam was avid in his love for Mercedes Benz, fast cars, loud trucks, WWII, a good joke, and edgy memes. He would greet friends with a firm handshake and family with a hug, both of which were followed by genuine interest in the other person and an energy that could light up a room. Liam was loved endlessly by his family who are devastated by the tragedy of his death.
Sadly, the depression he held within became the catalyst for the event which took his life. One of Liam’s favorite sayings was the Mercedes slogan, The best or nothing. The best of Liam will be forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him. Liam’s family hopes you find solace in this as you attempt to make sense out of the tragedy of his suicide.
In addition to his parents, Liam is survived by his sister Abigail Gordon, and his beloved dog Belle and Brandy; paternal grandfather Russell Gordon of Winter Harbor, ME; maternal grandfather Ronald Jones and his wife Marci of Farmington; aunt and uncle Kristin and Rick Cacciapaglia, and cousins Alex and Tishy Cacciapaglia of Ridgefield. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Deo Gordon and Susan Jones.
Calling hours and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 8th from 5-8pm, with a memorial service beginning at 7:30pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. In lieu of flowers, take a moment to enjoy this amazing world and give someone you love an extra hug. Memorial donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at afsp.donordrive.com/campaign/Liam-Patrick-Gordon-Memorial-Fund.
