Leonard Francis Paul Sr.

After 4 ½ years apart, Leonard Paul woke up with the love of his life (Eileen) on December 7th 2023. Leonard was born in Brooklyn, NY April 23rd 1943 to Leonard & Marjorie Paul. Brother to Robert (Flo) Paul of Oceanside, NY, father to Leonard Jr (Jennifer) Paul of Clinton, Elizabeth (Mick) Ruggiero of Clinton, & Brian (Nicole) of Cheshire. Leonard was a proud Grandfather (Grandpa BaBa) to Leonard (Arianna), Elizabeth, Johnathon, Zoe, Audra, Ella, & Grant.

From an early age, Leonard had a lifelong love of the outdoors. Even growing up in Brooklyn didn’t stop him and his cousins from taking buses and trains to The Adirondacks to hunt and fish. Years later, Len would retire to a mountain in Bethel, VT, aptly named Paul’s Peak, with his greatest love, Eileen. Len and Eileen were married June 29th,1963 in Brooklyn. In 1978 they bought their first home in New Haven and began life on Grafton St. The transition to New Haven was difficult on Len as it took years for him to find “Good Pizza and Chinese outside of Brooklyn”. Len loved a good meal, a gin & tonic, and spending time with family and friends “just bullshitting”. The house on Grafton St was filled with love, laughter, and people. The door was always open, and the dining room table could always fit one more. His most memorable times were of full houses after weddings or his surprise 50th thrown by Eileen and friends. Being a parent in Fair Haven also meant your family could grow nightly, so hearing Hugo yell “Hey Pop” or Pat walking in the door for dinner always made him smile.

Len loved his family and was happiest when they were all together. As years went on and Holidays arrived, he would be sitting in the back or simply standing in the doorway looking over what he loved most. Eileen and his family.
