Leonard Stephen Dunsing, 65, of Killingworth, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 29, 1950 in New Haven, CT, son of the late Leonard and Josephine (Kaliszewski) Dunsing. He leaves behind his beloved high school sweetheart and wife Judith (Puska) Dunsing, daughter Adrienne Dunsing of Philadelphia, PA, son Elliott Dunsing and his wife Elizabeth Taran of Deep River, grandson Jackson Dunsing of Deep River, brother Walter Dunsing of Colorado City, TX, brother-in-law James Puska and his wife Randy Puska of Killingworth, and, of course, his faithful dog Fred.
He grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School, class of 1968. He later studied electronics and business management and attended the CT School of Electronics, Bridgeport Engineering Institute, University of Bridgeport, and Post College. For the past 30+ years he worked with various electronic and technical-based companies as a sales representative and account manager, most recently with Open Mind Technologies.
He had a lifelong passion for music. He played bass with the 60s bands The Undecided and Houka. He later focused on spiritual music and played with the Ambassadors of Praise and Psongs to Christ (P2C) Band. P2C released the album “Spirit Filled, Spirit Led” and performed at a number of churches and seminars in the region.
He was active in the Catholic community and a parishioner at St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth and St. Margaret Church in Madison. He taught religious education for twelve years at St. Lawrence Church. He established a meal delivery service for the poor and homeless at St. Vincent de Paul in Middletown after learning that the community lacked access to food on Sunday afternoons.
At home, he enjoyed gardening and maintained a large dahlia garden with his wife. He was also an avid bird watcher.
His family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven and The Connecticut Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 11, from 4-6pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Monday, October 12, at 11am at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison.
