My condolences to the Cullen family. I couldn’t believe the news when I heard it. John was an amazing guy and helped me become a tougher person during high school while we played football together. I had the privilege of calling him a teammate, coworker, and friend. I have many fond memories with John and the rest of the Cullen family that I’ll remember forever.

So sorry to learn of John's passing.  I knew at Morgan when I was a substitute teacher and had him in class numerous times.  Always pleasant and friendly and polite.  His joke to me was we were suppose to go to a Ricky Martin concert.

I left for work and I told you NO CANDY! Of course you out of all people don’t listen, I come home from work and Michael tells me you took him to FUZZYWIGS and let him pick out about 20 candies… this kid don’t sleep to begin with and on top of ALL THE CANDY you bought him that day I was soooooo mad at you. But, I would give anything to see my kids face light up when he said uncle bought me so much candy with the BIGGEST grin on his face, you ignored my calls and texts for a solid day…. I will make sure my sons know about “uncle” I love you and I miss you already

To the Cullen Family-

Your home and family was always a source of so much fun, joy and laughter for anyone who had the chance to spend time among you. 

John was no exception, and all my memories of him are full of light, happy memories and special moments where he smiled at me, made me laugh, or doled out the joke that everyone was thinking but too afraid to say. He was a fierce protector of Amanda and us as an extension.  

He had a lovely heart and I am so glad that I got to spend my formative years in his presence and of course, your daughter’s presence (and protection!) 

I am keeping you all in my thoughts, knowing there will be brighter days ahead and have faith in your family who is supported and loved by so many. I am far away in distance but still here nonetheless.

Carol:  I’m so sorry for your loss.  I remember John warmly.  He was such a polite sweet guy.  I ran into him a few years ago and still as kind and respectful as he was as a young kid.  My heart breaks for you and your family.  I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cullen Family,
I find myself at a loss for words - I am terribly sorry you are all going through this - though sorry seems inadequate to say. I have kept you all in my thoughts. I grew up going to school with John, Amanda and Rob. Though we may not have been close friends - being from a small town means you have the opportunity to share a different kind of relationship - one that people from a big city may not ever have the chance to understand. We all know each other in some regard or another - going through such a significant loss  brings our small  town together, a band of support.  I can only hope you all know that so many people are here to support and lend a hand,  hug, a listening ear - and their love.
