Charles Stephen Hahn passed away on the evening of November 25th, surrounded by his family. Just before his passing, the room filled with a strong fragrance of ladies' perfume, and we believe his mother, Mary, came to bring him over to the other side. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Ann Hahn; his brother, Robert Hahn; and his parents, Mary and Clifford Hahn. Charles leaves behind his brother Clifford Hahn of Branford Ct, his son and daughter in law, Charles & Erika Hahn of Boston, Massachusetts; his grandson, Jenson Hahn; and his daughter and son in law, Susan & Steven Distasio of Clinton, Connecticut.
Charlie was a vivacious character, tolerated by some but revered by many, including his students at Branford High School, where he worked as a teacher. He loved sharing animated stories about the antics and hijinks of students and fellow teachers at BHS. He left his mark as an educator, encouraging and inspiring many of his students to attend college and pursue their dreams.
Because of his love for history, one of Charlie’s greatest passions was travel. Traveling abroad with his wife, Carolyn, brought him immense joy, and sharing stories of their adventures was a close second. Charlie loved offering travel advice to anyone who would listen. He always knew exactly what you should see when traveling and where the best inexpensive restaurants and hotels were. As you might expect, traveling with Charlie meant following his carefully planned agenda. Charlie and Carolyn's travels took them all over the globe, including Egypt, Russia, Turkey, Greece, England, Germany, France, and Italy, as well as to most of the 50 states.
In their later years, Charlie and Carolyn became snowbirds, spending the winter months in Florida. Their time in Hernando Beach were among their happiest years together.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Louis Telesford from Hamden for his expert medical care and the fellowship that he shared with both Carolyn and Charlie over the years.
