Our dearest Zakariya “Zak” Abdul-Alim, 32, of Cleveland Ohio, passed away on November 11, 2022, by natural causes. Zak was born on December 3, 1989, 2nd youngest Son to Ibrahim Abdul Alim (Dr. Milton Wilson, deceased) and Juwairiyah Muhammad (deceased), and Badarunnisa Mohammed (step mother) in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from the High School Zak relocated to Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated from Roxbury Community College (RCC) with honors and earned an Associate of Science Degree in Information Systems Technology. Zak was a humble yet intelligent individual who could debate and “win” for countless of hours when passionate on various subject matters.
Zak also spent time in Egypt advancing his mind and knowledge in the Holy Quran and was fluent in both English and Arabic. After graduating from RCC, Zak began working at the New Mission High School alongside his Auntie Dr. Naia Wilson-Akubude, assisting freshmen and sophomore high school students with Math and English course work and was an essential factor in ensuring that many students qualified for graduation. He also returned to his Alma Mater, where he was embraced as a scholar, this was a significant and kind act that exemplifies who Zak was,” a humanitarian” and his belief regarding giving back to underserved communities similar to the one in which he grew up in. There he was engaged as a Peer Statistics Tutor. To fulfill his love for the Information Systems Technology Zak worked as an Intern with the Environmental Protection Agency , EPA (Boston, MA) and as a Help Desk/Data Analyst at the prestigious B.E.L.L. Foundation.
In the Spring of 2017 Zak made the decision to move back to Cleveland Ohio to care for his younger sisters and return to the family that he so loved to be amongst. He enjoyed family gatherings consisting of great conversation, games Sister against Brothers and lots of good cooking. Zak worked for Spectrum at the time of his death.
Although Zak did not have any biological children he is survived by a host of younger nieces and nephews who he adored and vice versa. Many of the children in the family were subject to being placed on Zak’s broad and trusting shoulders walking tall and feeling the breeze high up in the air. Zak was a sweet, and loving individual who will be more than missed. He exemplified the word ‘Helpful” would take his sisters and aunties anywhere they needed to go at any time of day or night. He was an independent thinker and kind soul that the earth will dearly miss.
Zak was preceded by Eton Wilson, Arthur Young, Isa Young, Ibrahim Abdul Alim (Dr. Milton Wilson) and Juwairiyah Muhammad, Imran Abdul Alim, Miguel, Ricardo, Eton Jr, Stan Young.
