Pauline Smith was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18, 1927 to
the late Eugene and Mary Adams and called home to Glory on Monday,
December 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her two siblings, Lorenzo
Rankin and Mary Pettit.
On July 10, 1976 she was united in Holy Matrimony with the late
Nathaniel Ellison Smith.
Pauline was educated in the Cleveland Public School system and worked
for the Doctor’s Hospital (currently renamed to Hillcrest Hospital) for over
22 years where she retired.
While living in the City of Warrensville, Pauline was a very active person
in her community and received several awards and Letters of Appreciation
for her volunteer services, for Meals On Wheels, Food Bank and the
Community Senior Center, to name a few. She was recognized by the
Mayor, Marcia L. Fudge with Certificates of Appreciation for her tireless
work in the giving her time to others. She was also acknowledged by others
that she served.
Pauline accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young
age. Her gift in this life was serving and giving to others, which was
shown by the love she provided to the community. Pauline was a member
of Affinity Missionary Baptist Church and volunteered for many of
the church’s functions and served on the Food Bank and Farmers Market
Ministry.
Her hobbies included organizing trips for others, traveling, entertaining in
her home, bowling, playing Bid Wiz, cooking and shopping for which she
was known as a “fashionista”. She was always on the cutting edge with the
latest styles of clothes and hats. Pauline loved spending quality time with
her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her beloved children, Paulette
Schaffer (Clarence Schaffer, deceased); Jack Vaughn Jr. (Dove ); LaWanna
Vaughn Lee; stepchildren, Charles Smith (Eva), Azeezah Fareed Abdullah,
Anthony Smith, Michelle Smith; stepsister Willa Mae Jolly; grandchildren,
Terrence Howard (Amy); Shermelle Rush (Virgil); Ricardo Schaffer; seven
great grandchildren; Clinton Miller, Tiara Matlock, Theo Howard, Amber
Short (Stephen), Amarri Schaffer, Lamere Schaffer, Ricardo Schaffer Jr.;
niece, Lenora Pettit; great niece, Lakia Copeland host of great-great nieces
and nephews and dear friends.
