Kyle Alfred Jackson (KJ, as his friends affectionately called him) was the first born child and only son to Myran Jackson and Kendra Holloway. On August 6, 2003 in Cleveland, Ohio he entered this world born to be a blessing. He was a joyful 10 pound baby.
As a little boy, Kyle loved to play sports. He often walked around the house in a football or basketball jersey. He loved to compete, watch movies, play with his brother/cousin DJ, and shoot hoops outside. Kyle longed for a sibling and got his wish with Maya, who he loved to agitate but also protected.
Kyle attended Louisa May Alcott Elementary School, Communion of Saints Catholic School, Gilmour Academy, and graduated in the class of 2021 from Cleveland Early College High School at John Hay. Kyle played the violin in elementary school. He was often called ‘Fiddler’ by his grandfather as he gave solo concerts to the family. He was also known to impersonate Michael Jackson, who he thought may have been a cousin.
He was always a sports enthusiast and briefly competed in football and track programs. Basketball was his passion. Kyle began playing sports at age three and continued playing throughout his youth and high school years. He participated on multiple AAU teams, leagues and for his high school teams. After he graduated high school, Kyle fulfilled his lifelong dream of playing collegiate basketball at Penn State Shenango in Sharon, Pennsylvania. During Kyle’s college summers he participated in the CAVS sponsored Hoops After Dark basketball program as a player and referee.
At Penn State, Kyle majored in Business Management and minored in Communications. He was always a superior scholar-athlete achieving honors level grades and winning multiple academic awards in high school and college. In college, Kyle was the Senator of the Student Government Association (SGA). He received the Penn State Academic Achievement Award for holding a 3.5 or better GPA and the USCAA National All-Academic Award. He was currently in the process of taking his talents to Cleveland State University for his last two years of college. He immediately connected with the basketball team and worked with them each morning. Kyle worked because he loved to “GET MONEY”. He was currently employed by Impact Youth Basketball, Cleveland Municipal School District Summer Learning Experience, and Cory Recreation Center. His greatest business achievement was creating and operating Ki11a Kix. As CEO, Kyle bought, sold & traded new and used kicks and often donated kicks to youth in the community. Kyle recently established t2k athletics where he was training basketball players.
Prior to leaving for college, with his Great-Grandmother Holloway’s guidance and prayer, Kyle accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He embraced the Scriptures and often quoted this verse: “In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:11 (NIV)
Kyle was enjoying life and doing what he wanted. He was always on the move doing something positive. He loved talking with his Nana, who would always fix him whatever he wanted to eat. He loved Nae Nae’s no bake cheesecake! He always joked with his granddad Ya-Ya and Mama Sadie. He impressed his Grandma Carrie one day with his grilled cheese chef skills. He wished he was his Uncle’s height! His last favorite memory was playing basketball and riding the motorized scooter with his Aunts and Dad in Baltimore.
On Sunday, August 6, Kyle was celebrating his 20th Birthday. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Alfred L. Holloway, great-grandfathers Miner Holloway and Johnnie Elder III, great-grandmothers Gloria Elder, Carrie Jackson, and Lenora Bowman.
