On July 26, 2021 …God spoke and said to his son; its time to come home. Henry Lee Cross Sr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Rosa Lee and Ernest Cross on March 8, 1956 whom preceded him in death.
Henry accepted Christ at an early age in Birmingham, Alabama at Sixteenth Baptist Church. He was educated through the Detroit Municipal School District, where he attended Martin Luther King, Jr. High School.
Henry was solely employed at Chrysler Automotive Industry and gracefully retired after 32 years of service.
Hen had not only a love but passion for music of R&B and jazz. His mother decided to get him a drum set once she noticed him tapping on metal can tops in the neighborhood. Henry became a musician artist of multiple instruments for over 50 years. He specialized and mastered the drums.
Hen’s extraordinary character was most definitely unique. He fully spoke his mind, meaning… HE SAID WHAT HE MEANT and MEANT WHAT HE SAID, meaning… he had NO FILTER. Although many don’t, he displayed his love with action. He didn’t care to say, “I LOVE YOU”, or the magic words of “PLEASE AND THANK YOU.” Even if you tried to give him the magic words to be polite, he would say, “YOU AIN’T GOTTA SAY THAT MAN.”
Hen took a delight in delicious soulful tasting meals. He would say, “YOU GOTTA PUT LOVE IN IT MAAANNN.”
Hen was known for speaking his own language. He created and stated partial words. He would say, “I AIN’T GOIN’ TO THE PILLOW (hospital) MAN.”
Henry leaves to mourn his loving wife Cynthia Cross with a graceful 50 years of marriage. Through this union, six children were born. He leaves to cherish loving memories for his children, Toyaliesia White, Dymietraca White, Keyelatoshia Cross (preceded him in death), Cynyalaliesia Cross, Henry Cross, Jr. (TiYana) and Jeirmaine Cross.
Amongst his siblings, Ernestine Kite, Willie Cross, Robert Cross who preceded him in death. He is survived by siblings Malcolm Cross (Pearl), Shirley Searcy and Darryl Cross (Paula). His aunts… Mae (Birmingham, Alabama), Jackie (Cleveland, Ohio) and a host of cousins.
A host of wonderful grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends.
