She was born in Cleveland, the daughter of the late George and Ann (nee Sopko) Basalla. Frances was the loving wife of the late Raymond, who predeceased her in 2011; loving mother of Kristie (Jim) Hughes and Ryan (Alysia) McKean; cherished grandmother of Bridget, Clayton, and Ashlynn Hughes and Maya and Alexa McKean; dear sister of Dorie (Lenny) Szymczak, Jeff Basalla, Cathy (Nick) Mennell and George (Brenda) Basalla; adored aunt and cousin of many.
Frances enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing bingo, and spending time with family. Family was always first and foremost to her. She was a very active member of St. Ambrose church, Legion of Mary, singing choir, and community. Fran spent countless volunteer hours assisting with church events, choir practices, social groups, and more. One of her fondest memories is traveling to Rome with her St. Ambrose church choir to sing for the Pope. For most of her career, Fran worked as a secretary for insurance companies. She attended Ascension Elementary School and John Marshall High School.
Due to the recent restrictions, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Catholic Charities USA.
