I'm currently reading the darkest child and it's a beautifully written masterpiece. May Ms. Delores soul rest in eternal peace... 

I have been using audible to catch up on my reading of black authors and came across Mrs.Phillips novel "The Darkest Child" I could not put it down and was excited to know there was a sequel to the book. Upon trying to find the name of the book to continue, I learned of Mrs.Phillips passing. However late, my deepest condolences to her family and a huge regret for losing such a great story teller. I will miss her literary voice. 

I stumbled upon Ms. Phillips book and couldn't put it down. It reminded me of certain memories I had as a child growing up, coming of age during the civil rights movement, going hungry when Mommy couldn't put food on the table. So I wanted to find out more about Ms. Phillips and learned that she passed away. My condolences. Ms. Phillips is a wonderful writer who shared her gifts with the world. RIP. God bless the family!!!

Ms. Phillips visited my classroom in Albany, Ga. She sent  me pictures of her visit I just learned about her death today, July 24,2015. Very sad.  I pray for her family. Now I will pull her book off my shelf and take a walk down memory lane.  MS. Elaine Williams

So sadden to hear about the loss of Mrs. Phillips. Never got a chance to meet her, but I was a fan of her literary work. Thank you for your inspiration, Mrs. Phillips.

We only knew her for such a short time, but she was a blessing to us. What a wonderful smile! Even though we know she is with the Lord, her presence will surely be missed by her loved ones. Our condolences to all.
