Wow, what a guy!  We learned so much about our cousin Steve today at his beautiful service.  All of the words today were so heartfelt, insightful and touching.  Whew...From his  infinite and overwhelming love of family...to his benevolence to others, community and Jewish community, to his skilled and helpful lawyering, to his athleticism and love of Cleveland sports,  to his being a daredevil,  and lighting up every  room. Steve’s law practice brought us together.  His love of life, particularly skiing, kept us connected and made memories.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. My fondest memories of Steve are at Heights High where you could hear him and see his contagious smile. Always happy! May your wonderful memories bring you smiles and love. 

I grew up across the street from Steve. He was my first “boyfriend” when we were toddlers. We would play house and I would send him for groceries with his little red wagon. I used to boss him around and tell him he brought home the wrong things (sticks and stones). I was also at Steve’s Bar Mitzvah and other Wasserman events. I remember having dinner at their house with my parents when he first brought Joni home. I haven’t seen Steve in years but childhood memories last. May his memory be a blessing!



My sympathy goes you, Joni, and all the rest of the family. Steve was a wonderful guy and will be missed by all who knew him. It still doesn’t seem true that his big smile is no longer with us. May all your good memories help to ease your heartache.

Frank and I are so greatly saddened over Steve’s untimely passing, far far  too soon.  He had so much left to give, and so much left to live for. What a terrible loss, not just for you and your wonderful family, but for the  Jewish and secular communities where he was so heavily involved over the years,  and for the world at large.
Steve will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched, and there were so many. Our deepest condolences to you, your son and daughter, their spouses, and of course, your beloved grandchildren. They will miss him so much. Having lost my ex-husband this past year to Covid, I unfortunately know first-hand how hard this is for everybody. But trust me when I tell you, the blessing of memory will eventually sustain you more than the pain of bereavement can hurt you. That day will come, I promise you.

Steve and I were High School sweethearts, then lost touch until our 40th reunion. Since then, over the last 10years we’ve remained friends. Steve always remembered my birthday and would wish me a Shana Tova every year. I will miss you terribly but promise to keep the memories in my heart, always. I grew up across the street from Steve on THE best block on Bainbridge. Those were the days when everyone sat outside in front of their houses in nice weather.  On summer nights, Steve’s parents, Milt and Morley (also the best!), would walk across the street and join my parents or vice versa. There were block-party cookouts too, and shared meals and  trips together to the beach. My sister and I stayed with the  Wassermans when my parents went out of town.  They were like family.  Joni and Nancy, I love you! I know Steve is with his parents now and at peace.

Steve, was a huge part of our magical neighborhood growing up. Earth just became a bit darker. Think of how bright Heaven is. Off you go Steve, Their is going to be a long line waiting to greet you my friend .

Steven was one of my oldest dear friends going way back to preschool, hanging out in the same neighborhood throughout our childhood. Although we lived miles, now continents apart as adults, I always looked forward to getting together during my trips home to Cleveland. Joni and family - my husband Alan (who grew up on the same street as Steven) and I send our warmest and sincerest condolences. We will miss Steven (z"l).

Steve will be missed in Az. Fun, full of life, daredevil, loved life, wife and family. A wonderful couple, im so sorry, my deepest condolences to Joni and family.

Will always remember Steve's bright and big smile. He was intelligent, insightful and kind. It was fun being neighbors while you lived on Fairwood Glenn yelling and whistling  through the woods.
