Thomas “Taylor” Fain, 87, of Clemmons, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2022. Taylor was born on March 28, 1935 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Thomas Taylor Fain, Jr. and Mildred Holmes Fain.
Taylor’s family moved often when he was younger, and at the age of 13, he began attending Mt. Berry School for Boys. Taylor graduated from Mt. Berry as valedictorian in 1952. He received a scholarship to MIT, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1956.
After college, Taylor began work in New Orleans with Shell Chemical Co. He also served in the U.S. Army as First Lieutenant, Corps of Engineers. While in New Orleans, Taylor went on a blind date that changed his life. That evening he met Joy Jones, the woman with whom he spent the rest of his life. Taylor began a career with RJ Reynolds, where he continued for 20 years until his retirement in 1997.
After retirement, Taylor enjoyed traveling, spending time with his grandchildren, and carpentry. Taylor was a master woodworker, and his favorite hobby was crafting furniture for his family and friends, making each piece with love.
For 45 years Taylor was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon and Bible Fellowship teacher.
