Susan was a 1963 graduate of East Forsyth high school and a 1966 graduate of Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Public Health nurse at the Forsyth County Health Department for over 30 years. She was a deeply dedicated nurse, serving our public schools and the Spanish language community and managing an intensive home visiting program for fragile newborns. She received the 1992 Volunteer Award from the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Council of Forsyth County, and served as a nurse at the Samaritan Clinic for the Homeless and My Aunt’s House.
She was also an avid cook and host, welcoming friends and family to her home and sharing holiday candy and cookies for many years. She and her husband loved playing and watching tennis and socializing with their tennis teams. She also enjoyed the beach, mountains, and visits with family and friends.
