Mary Faye Sprinkle Hobson passed away November 3rd surrounded by family. She was born February 14, 1928 in Yadkin County, the youngest child of Margaret Burchman Williams and Leander Gwynn Sprinkle. She adored her brothers, John and Robert (Gertrude) Sprinkle and her sisters, Martha (Willie) Macy, Margaret (Glenn) Shugart and Maude (Frank) Graves, all preceding her in death. Mary spent much of her adult life in Tobaccoville and worked for RJ Reynolds for 35 years.
Mary was married for 40 years to her lifelong friend and love, Arvon Lunford Hobson. They were married in 1946 after his return from WWII and after her graduation from Courtney High School in 1945. One of Mary's greatest joys in life was having grandchildren, Geoffrey Williams of Chapel Hill, Susan Williams of Durham, Karin (Norm) Brautigam of Cary, and Brian (Stephanie) Strassburger of Fairfax, VA. She was equally proud of her two great grandsons, Drew and Chase Brautigam. Mary was always happiest surrounded by family. The beautiful handmade dolls with hand sewn clothes will always be cherished by her family and special friends. She loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and watching NASCAR racing with her son. She was also a proud UNC basketball fan and Washington Nationals baseball fan. In addition, she was a proud volunteer at the Red Cross.
