John "Jack" Arthur Smith

John was born November 7, 1926, in Detroit, MI a son to the late Harry D. Smith and Doris Fonda Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Barbara Smith and his second wife, Hazel Smith. John was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War Conflict. He retired from AT&T after 35 years of service as a Program System Director. John was an outdoors man that enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and gardening. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by four children, Greg Smith, and wife PJ of Molt, MT, Cathy Smith of Pfafftown, Larry Smith and wife, Leslie of New Bern and Diane Harding and companion, Doug Comer of Winston-Salem; one brother Darrell Smith of Syracuse, NY; five grandchildren; Thomas and wife, Michelle, David and wife, Kasey, Jonathan, Julie and husband, Bryan, and Richard and nine great grandchildren, Kaleb, Alana, JayLee, Tyler, Wesley, Kirsten, Hailey, Madilyn and Mason.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7th in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forsyth Memorial Park. Burial will follow with military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, from 7 until 8 PM at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Road Chapel.
