CLEMMONS - Mr. James (Jim) Lester Hill, Jr., 62, of Clemmons, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was born in Surry County to James Lester and Larmie June Branscome Hill. Mr. Hill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the Carl Dresser Sunday school class. He retired from Lucent Technologies after nearly 30 years of employment. His favorite pleasure in life, aside from his family, was his farm. Mr. Hill was a people person; he enjoyed helping others, loved to make you laugh, and always brought a smile to your face. He was dependable, trustworthy, and an encourager. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his children's mother, Rebecca Hill. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Gale Hill; sons, Chris Hill (Wendi), Greg Hill (Jeannette), and Eric Hill; stepchildren, Dennis Palmer Jr., Tracy Hamilton (Paul), and Charlie Palmer (Brandy); sister, Ina Mae King; grandchildren, Joshua and Addison Hill, Claire Marie and Jack Hamilton, Mary Samuel and Molly Palmer, and nephews, Michael King (Mary Ruth) and Terry King.
A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be Friday, May 28, 2010, 2 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC with Dr. Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 27, 2010, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel. Burial will be at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery in Booneville, NC at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: Calvary Baptist Church Missions, 5000 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
