Jim was born in Odd, West Virginia on April 24, 1942 to the late Elmer Bolen and Hazel Alexander Bolen. He worked for over 40 years with RJ Reynolds Tobacco, retiring as a floor supervisor.
He was a true patriot. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marines.
Jim was strong, yet kind. He was honest and selfless. He was a true Christian. Jim served as a longtime active member and usher at Bible Fellowship Baptist Church.
In his spare time, he loved watching sports, especially the UNC Tarheels play basketball. Jim would often be seen taking his beagles out rabbit hunting, one of his favorite past times. But he most looked forward to time spent with his family. Jim was a doting husband, thoughtful father, and adoring grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bolen; son, James Bolen; and many siblings. He leaves behind his daughter, Connie Bolen Wood; stepchildren, Angie Johnson, Cherie Hill, and Michael Hendrix; grandchildren, Brooke (Michael) Spillman, Joel Johnson, Kaila Bauberger, Michael Hendrix, Jr., Dylan Wood, and Brendan Wood; great grandchildren, Piper Johnson and Sawyer Spillman; brothers, Ray (Donna) Bolen and Richard (Frances) Bolen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at 2pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. The family will receive friends at 1pm for a visitation. Burial will be at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
