Dan Alvin Smith Jr.

He was born in Forsyth County to the late Dan and Edith Smith. Dan attended Old Town School and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Dan proudly served his country in the US Army. He retired from Winston Salem Savings and Loan. Dan was a member of Beck’s Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, and scuba diving. He won numerous awards for roller skating.

Dan was a dedicated family man and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Smith; children, Michael (Diana) Smith and Dana (David) Yelverton; grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Taylor Smith, Matthew Smith, Mitchell Yelverton, and Wyatt Yelverton; great grandchild, Drue Smith; and cousin, Linda (Bob) Ellerbe.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 12th at 2pm at Beck’s Baptist Church Cemetery, 5505 Becks Church Rd, with Pastor Karl Minor officiating. Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Beck’s Baptist Church.
