Addie Mae (King) Wood, 96, formerly of Clemmons, passed into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior June 23, 2023. She was the second of eleven children born January 13, 1927, in Davie County to the late Franklin Alexander King and Ila Mae Howard King. She had been a resident of Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center, Winston-Salem, NC since 2016.
Addie loved the Lord and never missed an opportunity to tell others He received honor, praise and glory for her longevity. She often said, “I owe it all to the Lord.” She read her Bible daily and continued to sing songs she learned in Bible school as a young girl. She was a life-long member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church and attended church as long as her health permitted.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alvis L. Wood; a son, James Harold Wood; a grandson, Daniel Wood; siblings Joe King, Benny King, Donald Clay King, Gray Caudle, Nancy Southern, Edith Mounce, Lois Fansler, and Martha Fay King.
Surviving Mrs. Wood are brothers, Howard King (Shirley) and Kelly King (Libby) both of Lexington; grandsons, Jason Wood and Harley Wood; great grandchildren; 17 nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
The family extends their gratitude to the dedicated staff of Silas Creek Manor and Trellis Supportive Care for their care of Addie.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, 3:00 pm, at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church in Advance with Pastor Ronnie Craddock officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
