Robert J. McMullen, 97, born, Dec. 31, 1912, passed away Feb 25, 2010. He was born in Largo to John R. McMullen and Alice Waterson McMullen. He is preceded in death by his wife Robbie James McMullen. Survived by his daughter, Janet Randall; grandchildren, Belinda Holmes (Gary), Alpharetta, GA; Diane Randall, Apopka, FL and Donald Blaine Randall, Jr (Tricia) Port Orange, FL; Great-Grandchildren, Jennifer and Randall Holmes, Alpharetta; Abigayle and Emma Randall, Port Orange. Preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers; survived by sister, Betty Jean Johnson and brother, Carl R. McMullen and many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the pioneer McMullen Family and lived all of his life here, being a Gold Star Member of Pinellas Pioneers Assoc. In the past, he served on the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Committee. Also, was a judge for the Pinellas County Fair. Judging Future Farmers of America and 4-H youths live stock for many years. In 1942, he started his first business, Red Comb Feed Store and was a partner in Brandenburg Feed Store. He had many other businesses to do with poultry and feed under Robert J. McMullen ENT, Inc. The last few years he has lived at Regal Palms and made many new friends. He was a member of Largo and Clearwater Historical Societies and always looked forward to the Fish Fries and Cracker Dinner to see old friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Florida Sheriff Youth Ranch, First United Methodist Church of Clearwater or Heritage Bible Church of Largo.
Services will be Sat., March 6 at 10:30AM and visitation on Friday, March 5, from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 693 S. Belcher Rd, Clearwater 727-562-2070.
