Michael lived in Newark, NJ until moving to Roselle, NJ at age 7. He was known as “Mickey” to his close friends and family, nicknamed after his favorite baseball player, Mickey Mantle. After graduating from Roselle High School in 1959, he began his career at Mercedes Benz of North America. As an entry level employee, Mickey worked diligently and ascended through the ranks to become the Northeastern US Parts Distribution Manager. This position allowed travel with his wife Carol, to Germany and many other European countries. He owned and drove dozens of Mercedes Benz automobiles throughout his career and into retirement. He had the thrilling opportunity to drive on the Mercedes test track in Stuttgart, Germany, in the presence of one of Germany’s top race car drivers. Mickey retired at the age of 55 as the most tenured employee of the company, having spent 37 years with Mercedes. In his personal as well as professional life, he was known for being diligent, organized, conscientious, and a perfectionist. He moved to Florida shortly after retiring, where he enjoyed playing golf with Carol, spending time with family and friends, occasional travel, and involving himself in various home improvement projects.
