John L. Powanda

Powanda, John L. 79 of Clearwater died Monday March 18th at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. Born Sept. 18, 1933 in Bayonne, New Jersey he was the son of Thomas and Margaret Cullinane Powanda. John was a Market Analyst for Exxon Oil Co. in New York. He moved to the Clearwater area after his retirement in 1986. He served in the US Army 1953-55. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. John married the late Joan E. Powanda April 1956; she died Feb 1998. He is survived by two son’s John L. (Elizabeth) Powanda Jr. of Spring Hill and William J. (Lisa Hart) Powanda of Brick, NJ, three daughters, Barbara A (Kevin) Mulshine of Niwot Colorado, Kimberly (John) Lutzyk of Clermont, FL and Lisa (David) Deraleau of Chester, VA, four brothers, Thomas Powanda of Middlesex, NJ, Daniel Powanda of Las Vegas, NV, Edward Powanda of Middlesex, NJ and Richard Powanda of Clearwater, sister Marie Callahan of Bayonne, NJ. He is also survived by six grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:00 am Friday March 22nd at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Clearwater. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine’s Church or St. Pete University in Jersey City, NJ
