Gene Kimble Mumma

In loving memory Gene Kimble Mumma August 16, 1931 – July 7, 2017 Gene Kimble Mumma, 85, entered into the presence of his Savior on July 7, 2017 at Cypress Palms Assisted Living in Largo, Florida. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio to William and Jane Mumma and was the oldest of their five children. The goal of every Christian is to exhibit Christ-like character. For Gene, these characteristics were part of his very nature. He maintained his joy and spread cheer to all he came in contact with, even when he was going through some of his toughest life experiences. He showed unconditional love to all, even those who sought to do him harm. He was a technical writer by profession, and through training he received from the United States Navy and General Electric Company he gained extensive knowledge in electrical engineering. He was a valued employee at General Electric and was among the first to serve at the plant in Largo, FL. Through this he remained humble often bringing honor to his team over himself. Gene was very generous to those in need, never refusing aid, monetary assistance or service to anyone who asked. As his wife, Barbara, suffered with Alzheimer’s he was faithful, never wavering on the vows he had made to her when they wed. He endured the hardships that the disease unleashed with so much love and compassion that most observers could not comprehend that level of self-sacrifice. To his children, he demonstrated the best human example of God the Father in their lives. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mumma, his parents, and his siblings Bert, Charles, and James. He is survived by his children: Jodelle Forsberg of Oldsmar, Florida and David Mumma of St. Petersburg, Florida and grandchildren: Garin, Colin, John, Caleb and Daniel and sister, Nelva Maslowski. There will be a memorial service in the chapel at Countryside Christian Center, 1850 McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759 on Saturday, July 15th at 3:00 p.m. preceded by an optional viewing at 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will immediately follow the close of the service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in the Garden of Psalms, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759.
