Ethel Shintay of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on Dec. 28, 2017 at the age of 98. She resided at Regency Oaks for 19 years, and previously resided in New York City and Toms River, N.J. Throughout all her years, she was active in leadership roles in civic, social and church related organizations. Her professional career included many years of teaching in the New York City Public Schools as well as serving as an English As A Second Language instructor. As a pastor’s wife, she played a very active role in parish life for over 40 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, the Rev. Dr. John Shintay. She is survived by her sister in law Anne Shintay, three daughters, Patricia Spotts, Elizabeth Leanderson and husband James, Mary Walsh and husband Thomas, five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
