DAVIS, Dudley E. 96, of Clearwater, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Allie, daughters Jane Laureys (Lynn) and Jackie Reinking (Jeff), five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dudley is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dee Davis.
Dudley was born in Highland, New York on August 21, 1922, to Edgar and Laura Davis. He was an Eagle Scout and scoutmaster.
Dudley’s military experience began in September, 1940, when he became a member of the ROTC at the University of Maine. In May, 1943, he was called into active duty by the US Army as a first Lieutenant in the Signal Corp where he served in the China Burma India Corp. As a World War II veteran, he returned to the University of Maine and completed his electrical engineering degree. He did post-graduate study at MIT. In 1947 Dudley joined the General Electric Company, where he worked for 39 years.
Dudley will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His leadership skills, upbeat personality and genuine kindness and concern for those around him made him a very special person who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
On Tuesday, August 20, the Davis family will receive guests at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, beginning at 10 am; followed by a memorial service at 11 am.
