74, of Clearwater, Florida passed away at home on December 30, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Dale Simpson and Kellie Perdew, daughter-in-law Jessica Simpson, son-in-law Tony Perdew, grandchildren Harper Simpson and Reid Simpson, grand-dogs Javier and Henry, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Diana was preceded in death by her former spouse Larry Simpson, mother Inez Cremeans, father Alpha Vernon Mays, step-father Clark Cremeans, brother Gregory Cremeans, and sister-in-law Joyce Conover.
Diana was born in Kenova, West Virginia and moved to Clearwater, Florida with her family in the 1960's. She was a teacher at Ponce de Leon Elementary School in Clearwater for over 20 years, retiring in 2012. Diana was happy, caring, and a kind soul and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her "Happy Place" simply consisted of spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren, regardless of the activity. She had a passion for animals of all kinds, but particularly dogs, never missing an opportunity to pet a dog as she walked by. She was also an extremely charitable person, donating to many causes. A devout Christian, she attended Missouri Avenue Baptist, Calvary Baptist, and Lakeview Baptist Churches.
Diana is forever loved, and her signature "Hi Honey" greeting (spoken with a slight Southern twang) will be greatly missed by her friends and family. As a teacher, she touched the lives of countless students and fellow faculty members, who will undoubtedly remember her for her kindness, humor, and caring personality.
A visitation for Diana will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 12 pm and then a Graveside service at 1 pm at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 SUNSET POINT RD, CLEARWATER, FL 33759.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial gift donation in Diana's name to the SPCA of Tampa Bay or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
