83 of Clearwater, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 8th after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born September 25, 1933 to Grover and Mabel Lance in Era, Ohio. He is survived by a son, David Brian (Jerrie) and a daughter, Beverlee (Terry) of Edmonton, Alberta Canada. David lived in the Mt. Sterling, OH area for many years and attended school in Derby, OH. He shared many memories over the years of his school friends, 4-H club friends and he loved to play basketball during his high school days. After a few years of working on the family farm, he joined the U.S. Air Force and as an MP served overseas in Korea and later in Bermuda. While in Bermuda he worked with the local children and established a baseball team which was named after him. Once he left the Air Force he returned to Ohio where he opened up a riding stable with a restaurant named after his children, B & B Riding Stables. During this time he also worked for the State of Ohio with the liquor control department. Following the sale of the riding stables and restaurant, he pursued a career in real estate in the Grove City area, He then moved to Marysville, OH where he continued his real estate sales with a newly built mobile home park. In the late 70’s, Dave moved to Florida and continued to work in the real estate mobile home industry. He was active with the American Legion as a volunteer and belonged to the VFW and the Moose Lodge. Approximately 6 years ago, he received a diagnosis of the onset of Alzheimer’s disease while living in Winter Haven, FL. As the disease progressed he was moved to an Assisted Living Facility in Dunedin, FL and eventually to a nursing home in Dunedin where he passed away comfortably with assistance from hospice as well as the caring people at the nursing home. Dave was a true cowboy and as coincidence would have it, he passed on the same day as Glen Campbell who had suffered the same disease. The two cowboys will arrive together In Heaven. Interment will be at Bay Pines National VA Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida where he will be honored as the valiant Veteran he was. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Assn. for future research.
