Babe M Macre

Age 92, of Clearwater, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Babe was born in Steubenville, OH. Babe was preceded in death by her Father; Louis Cortese, Mother; Lucille Cortese, sister; Theresa Lemal, and brother; Frank Cortese. She is survived by her husband of 72 years; Dan Macre, son; Dan Macre, Jr., daughter; Sheila Macre-Coppridge, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A special mention must be made of her best friends, some living and some not... Jean Cancelmi, who was like a sister, Joan Perrot, they met as room mothers when the children were in elementary school and became instant best friends, Bobbie Rendel and her husband Jerry, their neighbors on the beach, and Margie Bernabei, a life long friend. Babe moved to Clearwater permanently after visiting the area on her honeymoon. She was a homemaker and supported her husband in his career as a General Contractor. They came to Florida with the clothes on their back and lived the American dream having built a business from nothing, owning beautiful homes, cars, and raising a family. She loved Italian cooking, the beach, tanning, live music and shopping. She always dressed to impress. She had a crush on Burt Reynolds and made a scrapbook of his career. One of the highlights of her life was a trip to Italy with her husband, cousin Denise Mei and her husband Roberto Mei. She also loved live concerts. At one concert, her cousin Kelli Krebes, actually got her backstage to meet Cris Botti in person and she always talked about that great experience. She went on to see Chris Botti in concert at least seven times. Babe was a Catholic. She was a member of St. St. Cecelia, Light of Christ, and St. Brendan’s. At her request there will be no funeral service.
