Alex Malter 97, of Clearwater, FL died Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Alex was born April 6, 1918 to the late Joseph and Sadie (Vogel) Malter in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the United States Army during World War II. In 1946, Alex married the late Lenore Klingenstein. They enjoyed 62 years together. In 1990, Alex and Lenore moved to Clearwater from Huntington Station, New York. Alex had a love for cooking from his days in the Army. He was a chef at several venues and owned a restaurant during his lifetime. He was also the ultimate Tampa Bay Rays Fan. On his 95th birthday he threw the first pitch at a sold out Tampa Bay Ray’s game and met Joe Madden. Alex said it was one of the best days of his life. Alex is survived by his son, John Malter and his wife, Lise Bornstein-Malter of Waterbury, Vermont , one step grandson Daniel Bailey and many nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by his 3 brothers Arthur, Manny, and Harry, and 1 sister Pearl. Inurnment will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park at a later date.
