She was born on March 12, 1931, in Clearfield, PA the daughter of Margorie Cowdrick Flegal.
Joan, known to her loved ones as Mimi, had a zest for life that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a passionate fan of Penn State sports and loved attending games and matches. In her 92 years, she filled her time with reading, particularly enjoying history and studying maps. She delighted in sharing stories of her adventures. Surprising many, she held a license to carry and owned her own motorcycle, and snowmobile. She even had the opportunity to meet the legendary Evil Knevial.
Joan’s early career included working as a secretary for the United Mine Workers and assisting in managing her husband’s chiropractic practice. She was a dedicated homemaker and volunteered endless hours helping others.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Barbara J. Hubbard and Ann L. Hubbard, as well as her cherished granddaughters, Bethany “Beth” McGranahan and Katherine “Kate” M. McGranahan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. H. C. Hubbard “Chuck”.
Joan graduated from Clearfield High School and remained connected to her alma mater throughout her life. She found solace and spiritual fulfillment at Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, PA and later at Mt. Nittany Methodist Church, State College, PA.
A graveside service, conducted by Rev. Thomas A. Young, will be held to honor Joan’s life at Hill Crest Cemetery, Clearfield on Saturday, September 16 at 11 a.m.

Joan F. “Mimi” Hubbard touched the lives of many with her vibrant personality, love for adventure, and dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
