Mrs. Hugar was born September 10, 1930 in Lewistown, the daughter of James A. and Margaret (Allenbaugh) Poorman.
She had been employed by W.T. Grant Co., Clearfield Progress and Kmart.
Mrs. Hugar was affiliated with the St. John Lutheran Church of Clearfield.
She enjoyed crocheting afghans, crafts and playing bingo.
Jean is survived by her husband, Merle J. Hugar, whom she married February 6, 1948 in Buffalo, NY, three sons; Terry Hugar of Morrisdale, Stacey Hugar of Clearfield and Todd Hugar and his companion, Sue Shugarts of Frenchville, three grandchildren; Heather, Timothy and Brandi Hugar, two great grandchildren; Lane and Bentley Hugar, two sisters; Jacqueline “Pat” Duttry of DuBois and Phyllis Fanara of Buffalo, NY, and a number of nieces and nephews. There was also great mutual love between Jean and two little dogs; Bella and Colt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Collins and a brother, James A. Poorman, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor George W. Solley officiating. Interment will be in Keewaydin Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of services.
