James Lynn Shirey peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021. He was born in Clearfield, PA on April 16, 1964 to Edwin R. and Jeanne (Lynn) Shirey, who preceded him in death.
James enjoyed being around people and demonstrated his love for others with his great smile and laughter. He enjoyed listening to music and liked to dance with those who were close to him. For many years he enjoyed walking and sitting outside, watching traffic and waving to people. James liked being in moving vehicles, especially long trips in the car, as long as he was in the front seat; and also enjoyed riding in his mother’s golf cart. James had a special gift for drawing people to him and making them smile when he would give them a hug or fist bump.
Jamie is survived by his sisters, Terry (Dick) Kuplen and Connie (Todd) Guyer, and brother, Bob (Sandy) Shirey. Also, Jamie is survived by his seven nieces and nephews and sixteen grandnieces and grandnephews.
The Shirey family is grateful for the incredibly unselfish caregivers of Fayette Resources who shared their love and time bringing joy into Jamie’s life. They provided stability and comfort for Jamie and gave the family peace, knowing that he was being given great care. Jesus said, “Whatever you did to the least of these you did for me.” Matthew 25:45.
A memorial service will be given for Jamie on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. in Clearfield with Rev. John Kovach officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
