Helen R McElfresh

Ms. McElfresh was born April 9, 1944, in Fairmont, WV, the daughter of William Earl and Vada Belle (Rice) Michael.

A 1962 graduate of Keyser High School in Keyser, WV, she would later graduate from Alderson Broaddus College School of Nursing. In April 2010, she retired from the Clearfield Hospital Home Health after 28 years of service.

She was Protestant by faith.

Ms. McElfresh was a member of the Clearfield Hospital Alumni Association and the Pennsylvania Nursing Association.

Her work and career were very important to her. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and sports, but most importantly, she was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Douglas S. McElfresh of Butler, PA and her daughter, Amanda S.Nash and her husband Josh of Burlington, WV; two grandchildren, Lindsey Madison Nash and Thomas Michael Nash and a brother Melvin W. Michael and his wife Sheila of Andover, OH.

Ms. McElfresh is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Michael Lynn McElfresh.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, PA with Rev. John White officiating. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Orphans of the Storm, Peggy Sass, Treasurer, 412 Hill Street, Curwensville, PA 16833.
