Born August 13, 1930 in Cumberland, MD, he was the younger son of G. Roy Ellsworth Wise and Frances (Arthur) Wise.
Mr. Wise had retired as owner and operator of Wise Gas Company and Wise Trailer Sales in 1988.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and the American Legion since 1953, and was a member of the Lions Club for 55 years including serving as President twice. He was also a member of the Clearfield Area School Board for 13 years and served as President for 2 years and a member of West Side United Methodist Church for 70 years.
A veteran of the Navy, Mr. Wise served as a “Seabee” in Rhode Island, Virginia Beach and Cuba during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by three children: Dennis L. Wise and his wife Kathrine of Leesburg, VA; Lynn Wise Oliver of Norwalk, CT; Gregg A. Wise and his wife Deborah of Pittsburgh, PA, along with grandchildren; Harrison Wise, Christopher and David Oliver, Christopher and Elizabeth Wise and Jennifer Dingman; and great grandchildren; Camron Bellamy, Annabelle Thomas and Oliver Wise.
He was the last surviving member of his generation and was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roy E. Wise, Jr., his wife of 50 years, Carolyn T. Wise and his recent wife of 10 years, Mona Jean Wise.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield with Rev. Karen Eiler officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard. A lunch reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services. The Clearfield BPOE Lodge #540 will conduct a memorial service at 5:45 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
