Mr. Rohrbacker was born August 10, 1949 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Ernest J. Sr. and Mary “Becky” (Aslup) Rohrbacker.
He retired from Florida Power and Light in 1993 and moved on to work at Fred Diehl Chevrolet and Butler Chevrolet in Clearfield after relocating to Pennsylvania.
Joe then served as a Pastor at Ashland Wesleyan Church along with his wife Arlene, retiring from that position. He was most recently a member of the Hyde Wesleyan Church while also serving with Pastor Ben Hardy at Bigler Chapel.
He was a United States Army Veteran, with part of his service as a crew chief in an aviation unit during a year-long tour in Vietnam.
Serving the Lord in ministry was a gift that God bestowed upon Joe and Arlene as a calling together. He loved the Lord and he loved people. Joe’s passion in life was spending time with his wife and all of the family. Traveling to the Outer Banks, sometimes for months at a time, was an annual ritual as he considered this place almost a second home, always enjoying family and fishing. Joe was an avid hunter. Many memories were shared with his sons, grandchildren, and friends while hunting on the farm surrounded by the beauty of nature and the abundant wildlife. Joe enjoyed his farm, seemingly always having at least one variety of critter in his pasture to include chickens, goats, sheep, cows, and even a miniature horse.
Joe is survived by his wife, Althea Arlene (Bateman) Rohrbacker whom he married May 31, 1969, his three children; Chris Rohrbacker and his wife Beth of Clearfield, Beth Kawa and her husband Brian of Houtzdale and Matt Rohrbacker and his wife Brandy of Ramey, eight grandchildren; Isaiah Rohrbacker (Courtney), Victor Rohrbacker, Luke, Lauren and Eli Kawa, and Brentan, Brenna and Brody Rohrbacker, three sisters; Rhetta Baum, Elizabeth Jones and Teresa Barker (David) and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Sarah Dawley and Linda Pounds.
Funeral Services will be held at the Hyde Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastors Ben Hardy and Stevan Sheets co-officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
