George Francis Turner Jr. (age 88) was born May 13, 1927 in Freeburn, Kentucky and moved to NO 5 in Roslyn at 6 months old. He then attended Cle Elum Schools before joining the Navy. George worked in the coal mines shortly after getting out of the Navy. After working in the mines, he then went to work at the Ford garage for 21 years. He then became a Mechanic and worked for Kittitas County for 18 years then retired at the age of 74. George was a hardworking, honest, family man. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, flying airplanes and riding his many Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
George was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Turner, his wife of 32 years, Evelyn McGowan, an infant daughter Georgine in 1959 and son Bill Briski in 2004.
He is survived by his children, Glenda (Jeff) Brownell, Craig (Barb) Turner, Karen (Craig) Gordon, Shelley (Lance) Sandage, Gary Turner and Jim Briski, along with 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his sister Irene.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 30th, at 11:00am at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Cle Elum. George will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Evelyn. Viewing will be Friday, January 29th at Cascade Funeral Home in Cle Elum from 12:00pm until 4:00pm. There will be a Celebration of Life following the Graveside Service at the Putnam Centennial Center in Cle Elum, from 12:00pm until 3:00pm. It will be a potluck style, please bring a dish.
