A native of Butler, PA, William was born July 18, 1940 to the late William Henry and Marjorie Rugh Boyer.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Montgomery Boyer; daughters, Catherine Riggs and husband, James, Rebecca Clark and husband, Richard; son, William Henry Boyer, III and wife, Katherine; grandchildren, Sarah Toth and husband, Brandon, Susan Riggs, Carmen Riggs, Alicia Riggs, James Riggs, Althea Boyer, and Emma Boyer; great grandson, Tony Hernandez, Jr.; and brothers, Randy and Thomas Boyer.
He and his wife were dedicated foster parents for 41 years. He was active in his church and loved his family.
A celebration of his life will take place August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2920 NC Hwy 42 West, Clayton, NC 27520, with a reception to follow.
