Paul Anthony Roberts

Paul Anthony Roberts, 70, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday February 3, 2018 at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Stone and Dr. Jonathan Jeffries officiating.

He was born on April 13, 1947 in Raleigh, N.C. to the late Leon Anthony and Frances Fish Roberts. Paul grew up in Garner, N.C. where he graduated from Garner High School in 1965. He then attended Campbell University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Psychology.

After graduation, he worked in hotel and restaurant management for over a decade. Following his tenure in hospitality management, Paul worked with the N.C. Department of Commerce auditing credit unions across the state. After 31 years of service, Paul retired in 2009.

He was a loving and devoted member of Horne Memorial United Methodist Church. He served the church in many capacities throughout the years. During his time as president of United Methodist Men he was able to assist with starting the youth program, serve as the head of family ministry, organize ushers, and help with fundraisers.

Paul was a caring individual who always put the needs of others before his own. He was an amazing cook who was happiest when he was entertaining friends and family. He appreciated the joys of nature and loved being outside surrounded by flowers and song birds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of 34 years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Mary Catherine Roberts and Sarah Roberts Wright and husband Ephriam, both of Clayton; also survived by his sister and her husband, Cathy and David Bell of Raleigh as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and his beloved dog, Sofi.

The family will receive friends on Saturday following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Rd., Smithfield, NC 27577 or Horne Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 475, Clayton, NC 27528.
