Lucy Mae Watkins Tharrington passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, Aug. 5th 2019. She was a woman of great faith who is pain free and celebrating eternal life with Jesus and family members and friends who have gone on before her.
Lucy was born in Raleigh on Oct 1st, 1938 to Herbert and Lucy Bissett Watkins. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Tharrington of 62 years; her daughter, Ann Gurganus and husband Todd of Smithfield; sons, M. W. Tharrington Jr. (Frog) and wife Teresa of Garner, Charles Tharrington and his companion Cathy Young of Garner; her brother, Joseph Watkins and his wife Dale; grandchildren, Kevin, Jason, Scott Tharrington and fiancée Natalie Ellis, Taylor Gurganus and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Crumpler officiating, committal service will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at McLaurin Funeral Home from 6:30 until 8:30.
