John Wesley Cole, age 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday,
January 7, 2022.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 13,
2022 at McLaurin Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM
Friday, January 14, 2022 at McLaurin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Pinecrest
Memorial Park.
He was a native of Wake County and the son of the late John Watson Cole and the late
Katherine Victoria Ross. John attended William G. Enloe High School and was active
in sports. He held many jobs after high school but made a career working at IBM in
the quality control department.
John enjoyed being a Husband and a Dad. He coached numerous sports teams for his
children including soccer, baseball, basketball and softball. If you couldn't find him
on a ball field or in a gym, you could look for him cooking on his Weber grill or
holding a video camera, trying to catch the next winning clip for America’s Funniest
Home Videos. Some of his favorite things were beach trips, mowing the grass,
working in the garden (and on his tan), home cooking, listening to beach music,
fishing, traveling with his family and Tarheel basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Jean Cole and
sister, Victoria Anne Cole.
He is survived by his son, John Cole, Jr. and spouse, Nancy Cole; daughter, Hannah
Cole; daughter, Ryan Cozart and spouse, Jeremy Cozart; grandson, Joseph Cozart;
sister, Jean Tyndall and husband, Ron Tyndall; several nieces and nephews and two
yorkies, Annabelle & Fatty.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly accepts donations for a special gift to the Nurses,
Doctors and staff of Johnston Health in Clayton.
