Gregory Wayne Cornell

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Greg was born in Smithfield, North Carolina to Clyde Wayne Cornell and Clara Jean Franks Morris.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. Eddie Franks and Ruby Blizzard Franks.

Greg was a retired self-employed electrician. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Greg also enjoyed offshore fishing, hunting, and being on the ball field.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Christina “Christy” Kay Cornell; children, Mackenzie Ragan and husband Bradley Ragan, Payton Sorrell and husband Colby Sorrell; grandchildren, Averi Ragan, Levi Ragan, Waylon Sorrell, and Sadie Sorrell; father, Clyde Cornell and wife Betty Cornell; mother, Clara Jean Franks Morris and husband Howard Morris; step-brother Jody Penny and step-sister Nicole Finnell; step-brother, Greg Smith.
