Erin Needham, affectionately known as Oma, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was a beloved wife to Richard May and a devoted mother to her children, Benjamin Laibson, Michael Laibson, Bradley May and Jason May. Erin's nurturing spirit extended to her seven grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply, along with her one special pet grandchild, Oreo.
Born with a heart full of warmth and compassion, Erin embraced her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother with unwavering dedication. She was a programmer Analyst up until her retirement. Her retirement years in North Carolina were a testament to her zest for life. She found immense joy in watching her grandchildren excel in sports, particularly relishing their moments in the pool and sharing her passion for crafting by teaching them the art of jewelry making.
Erin's creative spirit flourished as she embarked on entrepreneurial ventures, notably her eBay store where she sold clothing and her meticulously crafted custom jewelry pieces. Her hands brought forth unique treasures that resonated with those who were fortunate enough to acquire them.
One of the most cherished aspects of Erin's life was the companionship she shared with her beloved husband, Richard, affectionately known as "grumpy grandpa." Their daily rides on their golf cart through the community were emblematic of their unbreakable bond. Together, they created lasting memories while fishing with the kids and spending quality time with close friends, Peter & Cheryl Carter. These moments were marked by laughter, storytelling, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of companionship.
Erin Needham, Oma, has left an indelible mark on the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, creativity, and the joy she found in life's small pleasures will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, may we carry forward her spirit of compassion, creativity, and togetherness in our own lives.
