Elaine Carol Rairigh, 83, passed away on May 08, 2018. Born in New Haven, CT to David Lawrence Nelson and Mary Guzzio Nelson on August 13, 1934, Elaine went to Boardman trade school in New Haven, CT then worked as a waitress and layout artist in advertising till she went back to school and graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with her B.A. in Information Technology. She retired to North Carolina from Baltimore, MD from Social Security Administration.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was strong in her faith and loved serving God and singing in the choir. She always found comfort and pleasure in doing for others, she was always there for you. Playing cards, bowling, skiing, dancing, sewing, and volunteering were her favorite pastime activities. She also really enjoyed the sights and sounds of the beach.
Elaine was preceeded in death by her eldest son David Paul Stohl, Sr. She is survived by her four children, Karin and husband Tom MacDougall of Parkville, MD, Elice Stohl of Towson, MD, Kim Miller of Branford, CT, and Richard and wife Tracy Rairigh of Clayton, NC; one sibling, Janice Nelson of East Haven, CT; one niece, Dawn Nelson; nine great grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on May 16, 2018 at Amelia Christian Church (1696 Amelia Church Rd, Clayton, NC 27520) with Rev. Keith DeBord. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Clayton Senior Center (303 Dairy Rd Clayton, NC 27520) in honor of Elaine Rairigh.
