Delores Coreen Adams “DeeBee”, age 80, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home in Clayton, North Carolina. Born in Council, North Carolina, on May 12, 1944, she was a daughter of the late James Benjamin Adams and Mabel Inez Russ Adams.
Delores was raised in Brooklyn, New York, after moving from New Jersey. She attended P.S. 178 and later graduated in 1962 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. Delores went on to give birth to two children and dedicated her life to family, friends, and her career. She served as a Fingerprint Technician with the New York Police Department for 34 years, retiring on July 24, 2006.
Delores was often the life of the party, known for her vibrant personality and her “keep it real” attitude. She loved being surrounded by others, and her home was always open to friends and family. An excellent cook, she loved to love through food, bringing people together with her delicious meals. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her senior citizen community, including her close loved ones and friends in Co-op City, where she was a frequent and beloved presence post-COVID.
A true New Yorker at heart, it was very difficult for Delores to move south, as she often complained that everything was slower. However, after relocating to North Carolina to be closer to her family, she was lovingly surrounded by her grands and great-grands, who catered to her like a queen.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

She also leaves behind nieces, Sabrina Adams, Tracy Russ, and Ebony Russ; nephews, Mark Adams, Byron Coles, and Darrell Adams; as well as a host of close friends, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
