Carl Davis Benson Jr.

Carl Davis Benson, Jr., age 71, of McDonough,GA passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He was born in Clayton, NC on December 5, 1950 to the late Carl Benson, Sr. and Louise Duncan Johnston. Carl was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Summers.

He enlisted during Vietnam and retired from the Army after 29 years of service as a CW4. Mr. Benson also served his country during Grenada and the Gulf War. He was a volunteer firefighter in Clayton, NC and he enjoyed fishing and all sports. Carl was a NC State Football fan as well as the Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jeanne, children Lori (Phillip) Edwards of Holly Springs, NC, Stephanie Benson Williams (Pete LeRoy) of Garner, NC, Jamie Benson (Vince Quattrocchi) of McDonough, GA and Benjamin (Esmerelda) Benson of Los Angeles. He also has seven grandchildren, Justin (Kaely) Whitt, Daniel Cowan, Kayla Neidwick, Dawson Edwards, Davis Edwards, Dylan Edwards and Nolan Quattrocchi, three great grandchildren, one sister Margaret (Frank) Johnson, one nephew Clint (Emily) Johnson and their children and numerous well loved cousins.

A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
