Betty Lou Capps Johnson, 80, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away August 28, 2023, surrounded by her family. Betty Lou was born September 6, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Eva Capps, her brother, Edwin Capps, and her grandson Alex Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Johnson, her son Jeff Johnson and his wife, Terry Lynn, her daughter April Puckett and her husband Scott Puckett, her granddaughter Amanda Harris and her husband, David and their children Andi, Reece, and Hunter, her sister Laura Rodrigues and her husband Manny, her brother Craven Capps, her sister Teresa Miller, and her sister-in-law Billie Capps, and many more loving family and friends that she loved as they loved her.
She was raised on farms in and around Micro, North Carolina. She learned the life ethics of that time when it came to God and Family. She did well in school, as she was smart and beautiful. She was a cheerleader. She met Vernon when they were both young. They were married and September 3 is their 62nd anniversary as a happy, loving couple until death.
She was committed to work and family and raising her family with similar ethics as she was taught. She was a working mom in the 1960’s. She had many lifelong friends. She was always a church member and raised her children in the church.
A visitation for Betty Lou will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Powhatan Free Will Baptist Church. A funeral service will occur at Powhatan Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Highway 70, Clayton, North Carolina.
