Richard was born in Cody, Wyoming to Joseph and Tressie Anderson on April 14, 1949. He attended school in Salem, Oregon graduating from South Salem High School in 1967. Richard received his BS Degree from Western Oregon College. Richard served in the Marine Corp and Oregon National Guards.
Richard started his career in public service as a Juvenile Councilor in Bend, Oregon. He moved to the Sacramento area around 1984. Richard worked as a Juvenile Councilor and Public Guardian for Placer County. He retired in 2011.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors by hiking, skiing, motorcycle riding, camping and sailing. His hobbies included motorcycle and auto restoration. He had several projects going. He also loved to travel. He enjoyed Mexico and Hawaii.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joey James and nephew Michael Stevenson and niece Nicole Carrol. He is survived by his sister Barbara Anderson (Gene), niece Natalie Glassco (Scott), nephews Ty Stevenson (Myong) and Shane Baker. He also had 4 great nieces, Lindsey Stevenson, Morgan Stevenson, Hanna Stevenson, and MacKenzie Glassco. Richard always had a love for dogs. He lost his canine son Hank a couple of years ago and leaves behind Jack his latest canine son.
Richard was well liked by everyone and was the first to offer to help doing whatever they needed. So in remembrance of Richard, make sure you offer to give someone help in whatever they are doing.
