Robert "Bob" J. Cochrun

Robert (Bob) J. Cochrun, 88, of Circleville, OH passed peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Robert Dale and Mary Lucille (Roberts) Cochrun on April 20, 1936, in Columbus, OH. After being drafted into the United States Army in 1959, he served in San Antonio, TX, earning an Honorable Discharge in September 1961. Bob then attended The Ohio State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education, followed by a master’s degree in education administration. Bob was a dynamic teacher and administrator in the Columbus City School District for 35 years, having an impact on so many young people’s lives. Following retirement, he immersed himself in hobbies, including model trains, woodworking, and playing as many rounds of golf as possible. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife Linda. He never missed the opportunity to watch his beloved Buckeyes play a game and spent many years managing the sale of programs for home games. Following his move to Circleville, he became an engaged member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Robert married Linda Bowers, who survives him, on June 14, 1969. Together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. He is also survived by his children, Keith (Jamie) Cochrun of Plainfield, IN and Christina (Dersal) Goktas of West Sussex, England; grandchildren Mackenzie Cochrun, Caleb Cochrun, Ayla Goktas, and Evan Goktas; sisters Mary Ann Grcic of Grove City, OH, Lola (Skipper) Walter of Reynoldsburg, OH and Patricia (Susie) Remeis of Columbus, OH; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved.

The family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E Main St, Circleville, OH 43113. A Celebration of Life service will be held the following day at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St, Circleville with Pastor Mark Nodo, as the officiant.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s honor may be made to the Dorcas Circle of Trinity Lutheran Church.
